About Hayward House

Hayward House is "a hospice within a hospital".

It is a 20-bedded Macmillan specialist palliative care unit situated within the grounds of the City Hospital in Nottingham.

The buildings were provided By cancer relief Macmillan fund.  It is supported principally by the NHS, with generous help from friends, the general public and voluntary organisations.

Hayward House "palliates" the effects of advancing cancer and continues to care for patients and families thoughout its phases.

The unit also cares for patients with motor neurone disease and their families.  Care in the final period of these illnesses is only one element of our role.  A great many patients come into the unit for treatment and support or to give families a rest and then return home.

An attractive, friendly Day centre provides patients with companionship, emotional and physical support and a pleasant social day out.  At the same time a much needed rest is given to the patients' family and friends.
